American Pickup Truck Battle Heating Up

As you probably well know, Chevy and Ford pickup drivers have been as divided as any age-old dispute could be. And with Dodge forever playing the middle ground, there is fewer more traditional American feuds as iconic as this dynamic. But the current is shifting, according to recent trend analysis.
Traditionally America’s top selling pickup, Ford is getting a run for its money lately. In September 2014, Ford still sold more individual units than Chevy and Dodge, but sales wilted 1% from the month ago period. The pickup truck giant sold 59,863 units for the month, according to Automotive News.
Chevy also leveraged its incentive packages, helping it move 50,176 for a jaw-dropping 54% increase from the previous month. This performance was due in great part to incentive totals up nearly 6% from the year ago period. This included a rebate of $4,000 and 0% APR.
Meanwhile, Ram moved 36,612 trucks for a 36% increase from the August figure. This was due in great part incentives as well, which included up to $3,000 cash allowance and as low as 1.8% financing. This was also the first time Dodge was able to beat out the competition in Toyota as far as total sales for nearly 3 years.
These results could just be the culmination of a tired Ford model. But don’t fall asleep on the Ford F-150, as they are embarking on a new model year for 2015. Complete with new styling, the Ford F-150 is being designed with an aluminum skin, an unprecedented move, entirely new styling, and better fuel efficiency, due in great part to the lighter weight aluminum construction. This new Ford model is sure to see record sales in the ensuing model year.
