Maintaining a Race Car

If you want to win the next race or maintain your winning streak, proper maintenance is the key for success.  There are several tips that separate the winners from the rest of the pack that we want to pass onto you.

In order to keep repair costs low, proper maintenance is important.  Race cars will face a lot of wear and tear during a race.  Repair costs can be costly so finding a trustworthy mechanic that can do preventative maintenance or learning how to do simple maintenance on your own can help as well.

–The first step in maintenance is making sure that the car is clean, inside and out.
–Checking the nozzles for grime and buildup is important.
–Check the barrel valve to make sure the adjustment hasn’t changed.
–Clean and re-grease the torque tube.
–Make sure the oil is changed and the filter is also replaced before a race.
–Fuel lines need to be cleaned and inspected.
–The frame should be checked for damage.
–All Heim joints should be cleaned and inspected.
–The tires should also be inspected and discarded if excessively warn or damaged
–Inspect the driver’s seat belt for any damage, replace when needed.

After these steps are completed the car should be given a final once over to make sure that everything is up to par before allowing the vehicle back onto the racetrack.  You don’t want to waste valuable time at the track or during the race in the pit.  Races are won and lost at the pit stop.  Make sure that yours is won by following the guide above.
