5 Spring Cleaning Tasks for Your Car

Winter is officially starting to wind down across the country, and the warm spring and summer temperatures are starting to rise. People love to spring clean during this time of the year to get organized and inspect areas that may not have received enough attention during the winter months.

Because your car goes through a lot of wear and tear during the cold winter months, here are some ways that you can care for your vehicle and prepare it for spring!

Wash and Wax Your Car

One of the best ways to kickstart your spring cleaning is by washing and waxing your car. Whether or not you receive snow where you live, winter driving can cause a good amount of grime and other debris to build-up on your car. The start of the spring is a great time to make sure that this build-up is gone!

Clean The Inside of Your Car

Cleaning your car during the colder winter months is a hassle. That’s why the spring is a great time to dedicate some energy towards cleaning the interior of your car. Throw away the trash that you tossed on the floor, vacuum your carpets and seats, and disinfect the interior with the appropriate cleaning products.

Check On Your Tire Pressure

The start of spring is also a great time to check your tire’s air pressure. During the winter, temperatures get cooler, so tire pressure tends to decrease. However, as the air starts to warm up again, your tire pressure can increase. If your tire’s pressure increases past your manufacturer specification, it can negatively impact your car’s drivability.

Take a Look at Your Wiper Blades

Many states experience their rainy season in the spring, so the beginning of the season is also a great time to check your wiper blades. Are there any signs of cracking or wear? If so, it’s time to replace them!

How Is Your Alignment and Suspension?

Large potholes or rocks can mess up your car’s alignment or cause damage to the suspension components. If you know that you spent a lot of time driving on roads with these conditions, it would be a great idea to take your car to an auto repair shop to get it checked out.
