How to Extend the Life of Your ATV

Do you want to ensure that your ATV lasts for 10, 15, or maybe even 20 years? You’re going to need to make a consistent plan to maintain it. Whether you use it almost every day or every once in awhile, you can get plenty of mileage out of an ATV when it’s well-maintained over the years. Check out some of the ways in which you can extend the life of your ATV below.

Check your ATV’s oil on a regular basis and change it as necessary.

You wouldn’t drive around in your car or truck for months on end without worrying about the oil in it. So don’t do it when it comes to your ATV! Checking the oil in an ATV is even easier than checking it in a regular vehicle, so don’t be afraid to check your oil early and often. Get into the habit of changing it regularly, too, so that dirty oil doesn’t do a number on your engine. It’s simple enough to change the oil in an ATV and keep it fresh.

Keep an eye on your ATV’s air filter and replace it when it gets dirty.

In addition to checking and replacing the oil in your ATV, you should also do the same thing when it comes to your ATV’s air filter. Your ATV’s engine needs clean air in order to run properly, and it won’t be able to get it if your air filter is all dirty. Take a look at your air filter every now and then to see if it’s dirty and needs to be replaced. Be especially mindful of doing this after driving it through dirty and dusty conditions.

Clean your ATV to prevent it from rusting.

After spending a few hours cruising around on your ATV, you might not feel like cleaning the dirt that is caked on it off. You might also kind of like the dirty look that it’s giving off to the world. However, if you leave dirt on your ATV for too long and don’t make cleaning it a priority, it’s only a matter of time before rust will start to develop. Moreover, as soon as rust starts to appear, it could be a death sentence for your ATV. Keep it clean by washing it every time it gets to be too dirty.
