Tips for Keeping your Engine Cool

Cooling systems are the second most important to a combustion engine, of course second to the combustion system. It keeps your engine smoothly running and prevents thermal breakdown. Luckily a little quick home maintenance can easily make short work of a routine radiator flush.
Most radiator systems need flushing at least every two years. This is because scale and rust deposits that builds up in the system and in the dirty antifreeze, which is detrimental to your radiator and water-pump. This build up actually compromises the lubricating agent in your antifreeze, which leads to water-pump seizing and causes your engine to overheat.
Flushing your radiator of coolant is easy steps to ensuring you have a smooth running engine and contributing to the longevity of your mechanics. Allow your car to cool completely, unscrew the radiator drain plug and let the old completely coolant drain into a receptacle. Replace the drain plug.
Remove radiator cap and funnel radiator flush cleaning solution and water. Recap and run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature and turn heat on to highest setting. Turn off after 10 minutes and wait for the engine to cool completely.
Make sure you give your engine plenty of time to cool before you drain the radiator. Don’t rush to get the job done. About 75% of this task is a waiting game. After you have taken yourself away from the job or run some other errands, drain the contents of the radiator and refill with fresh coolant. Drive off into the sunset.
