What is a Car Tune up?

Cars have changed drastically in the years since the term “car tune up” was coined. It used to mean the mechanic would go through your vehicle and make small adjustments to ensure your vehicle was operating properly.

Sometimes just regular vehicle use would make belts shift or bolts move and they just needed to be put back in place. In the year 2014 modern vehicles are all run by a computer. This computer makes those small adjustments for you.

There are some things you can do to make sure your vehicle is running correctly. These things include replacing small parts that break down to everyday wear and tear. These items include the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, air filter, belts, oil and fluids. All of these items can sometimes be forgotten about because they are seldom thought about.

Take it upon yourself to check over these parts before you take it in to be serviced. If you find anything wrong or find cracks in your belts make sure you voice that to your mechanic so he can focus on those things. It is important to stay informed about your own vehicle

Make sure you know the things you want checked before getting your vehicle serviced. If you are not direct with the mechanic they may overlook something you think should be included. If they don’t check it, and you think they did, then that part will go even longer without being serviced. Your vehicle is your investment and you want to keep it in tip top shape.
